It is important of course to create a good utility room but it is not wise to not make any provisions for the rubbish that comes out of it all. And that is huge, there is no denying it. It is after all the utility room and a lot of cleaning and washing is done here. There is bound to be a lot of mess and chaos. Rubbish bins need to be seriously and carefully selected.
Durability can not be compromised upon when it comes to utility room rubbish bin. The sizes also need to be considered with a lot of thought. If your utility room is used for a lot of tasks including gardening, house repair, laundry and a whole set of other tasks, the normal 5 gallon rubbish bins are not going to be enough. There are really huge cans that can hold 70 gallons but reasonable sizes include 7, 10, 13 and 17 gallons. Make sure that you chose the size wisely because you need to consider the utility, the cost and the space it takes.
Just because this is “just a rubbish bin” we’re talking about, it does not mean that you have no choices. They can be attractive too, as demonstrated by the rather sleek Brabantia Touch Bin, for example. Metal and plastic are common materials however; fiberglass is catching up fast. The most popular choice however is a metal can as it lasts as long as a fossil. Square corners are better than round mouthed cans.
Choose wisely and make sure that you do not buy something that you will have to put out as trash pretty soon.
