A cluttered closet is sure to spoil your mood anytime you open it. It is frustrating trying to locate something important you know is inside the closet but cannot figure out where you put it. A closet is the most convenient place where we find it easy to stuff and hide rubbish.
With a few simple steps and ideas, it is possible to keep closets organised and uncluttered. As a first step, try sorting through the items in the closet. You will most probably find that almost sixty to seventy percent of the items are unwanted. You could try giving them away or just discarding them. You can even sell items that are outdated and faded which you know you are not going to use at all.
The next step would be to group together similar items like slacks, blouses, jackets, etc. You can organise them more by grouping them based on their colour and usability. For instance, you can group clothes you use only for occasions, clothes you use on a casual daily basis, clothes you wear to work, etc.
It is an excellent idea to store seasonal clothing in a different closet. Put whatever possible folded into drawers. Additional space can be provided with the help of multi-level rods. Hang your belts and ties. Use shelf dividers and bins to organise folded clothing, shoes and purses. Jewelry can be stored in attractive boxes. Keep items like umbrellas, bags, purses, caps, etc hung with hooks so that they are visible enough and readily available for use.
Hanging organisers are an excellent storage option for those who are frequently on the move. These are available at all shops selling home goods. These organisers come with pockets of clear plastic where jewelry, gloves, scarves, shoes and various other accessories can be stored.
These are a few methods by which your closet could be brought back to shape. You will never spend precious time looking for stuff. A neat and organised closet also remains moth free. Of course, using various power tools, like the Bosch IXO cordless drill screwdriver, handy DIYers can even fashion extra cabinets and or ledges for all their stuff. This is obviously a more drastic solution, however, than simply sorting and organising everything. Seasonal clothing should also be protected from dust, insects and moths with at least a covering of old paper.
