Homemade Stain Removers can be very cost effective and useful

It is not necessary to always reach out for those numerous household cleaning products on store shelves that all claim to leave behind sparkling surfaces. There are numerous home made stain removers which give you equally powerful results.

You can effectively cut grease, remove stains, kill mildew and mold, etc with a combination of certain ingredients, which are inexpensive too. You can now keep your upholstery, fabric, tiles, carpets, porcelain, just about anything sparkling clean with a combination of ingredients like White Vinegar, Borax, Salt, Water, Lemon Juice, club soda, Liquid Bleach, Baking Soda, etc.

If you are using home made ingredients for cleaning for the first time, you will have to start by analysing and experimenting on what works best on the product to be cleaned, as each product requires ingredients in different measurements.

Borax is widely used as a stain remover. It is often used in laundry for removing stains from fabric. Ink stains and food stains can be removed from almost any colour safe fabric by using a combination of borax, lemon juice and white vinegar.

For removing stains resulting from perspiration on clothes, you can use a mixture of baking soda and water. Soaking highly soiled clothes in water mixed with salt removes most of the grime and dust from the clothes.

A table spoon of ammonia mixed with three table spoons of hydrogen peroxide removes spots and stains from delicate fabrics. Some washing machines, such as the Indesit WM 12, have special programmes for removing stains from delicates. The balance of this mixture must be discarded immediately after use. Stains can be removed from surfaces that are non porous including enamel with the help of water mixed with chlorine bleach.

A tablespoon of chlorine bleach per cup of water is usually enough. You can even make sufficient quantity of this and store for weeks in clean spray bottles. Here is a word of caution. Never ever mix ammonia with chlorine bleach.

Glass surfaces sparkle when cleaned with a mixture of water and vinegar. Home made cleaners are very effective and cost saving. You can experiment with a variety of basic cleaning ingredients to keep your home sparkling.
