Everyone expects nothing short of a feast during the holidays and therefore the kitchen needs to be well prepared for this kind of a situation, at least to avoid frustrating hair-pulling sessions more than anything else. An organised kitchen is necessary to make your job easier and make the cooking smooth and flawless.
Starting with the cabinets is a good idea for here is where most of the people store wanted, unwanted, seldom used, frequently used things. Put away things you won’t need for quite a while in the pantry. Arrange the racks and shelves with crockery, pans and plates that you use most often. With the kind of work you will be doing during the holidays, the last thing you want to happen is not finding just what you are looking for in the cabinet.
Another thing you should do is to decide on which appliances you should move to the kitchen. If making cakes is a family must on occasions, then move the microwave in there if it is already not. Speaking of microwaves, remember to clean them before use. You do not want smoke in the house. Grinders and mixers like the Kenwood HB 791 are important appliances too but if you seriously do not use them much, there is no point in having them around as well. Take care to see that your sink is clean at all times. If it comes with garbage disposal facilities, make sure you deal with the odour. Lemon peels can easily do the trick.
Do take some time to think and reorganise. It saves a lot of stress and makes the otherwise tedious chore of cooking a lot less tiring.
