Though you can get a gas hob installed by the manufacturer or a professional electrician, it is possible to do it yourself as well. First cut an appropriate-sized hole in your worktop and protect the exposed chipboard as the hob needs fixing to the worktop. Then apply the seal that comes with the appliance to the worktop. Then fix the hob on the underside with fixing clips provided and an electrical or gas connection can now be made. For installing a gas hob, you can call your nearest Corgi Registered Installer, who will be a competent person to help out with the installation process. In case the hob is to be fitted above an oven, then gas pipe work must be completed so that it does not impede the fitting of the appliance below. Also, an electric gas hob can be made in an adjacent and accessible unit unless the hob is fitted above a drawer or door unit.
Sometimes the gas hob installation needs to be done when replacing another connection. For this, first shut off gas valve nearest the appliance before you begin any work. Once the valve has been found, turn it off and double check so that no gas comes out of the burners of the appliance. Then remove only the gas connection at the appliance. There might be an adaptor on the pipe which is on the appliances and if it is there, then remove it too. Then install the adaptor onto the new appliance and connect the gas connector to the adaptor. Turn the gas valve on and check with a soapy solution for leaks at every connection point you removed and reinstalled.
