Most people never think of cleaning their refrigerators. They feel the necessity never arises as it always looks tidy. They forget that spills can occur and many food remnants can remain unnoticed until the actual cleaning process gets underway. Cleaning helps remove bad odours that can permeate other foods. Here are some easy tips on cleaning your refrigerator.
Ensure power is switched off and keep the temperature knob at off position as you start cleaning. There is no neeed to leave the refrigerator running while you clean. Even if it is very energy efficient, like the Samsung RSG5DUMH model, it is still better to leave the fridge off whilst you clean. If your refrigerator also has a drip pan, remove and drain it of any water that may have accumulated. Then remove all that you have stored inside to the kitchen counter. Spoiled food and remnants have to be disposed of. If you have packaged foods that have crossed their expiry dates, throw them into the garbage can. Remove the wire racks, shelves and wash them in warm soapy water. Use a brush to remove stubborn stains and then have them wiped clean with a soft sponge cloth.
Clean the insides of the refrigerator with warm soapy water using a dishcloth. A soft scrubbing sponge can be used to remove difficult stains. Wipe again with fresh water and a new dishcloth. Make sure that you use a dry cloth to remove all residues of moisture. Replace all the racks, shelves and drip pan. You are ready to put back all the food items into the refrigerator. Set the temperature knob at the desired temperature and switch on the power plug to get the refrigerator running again. Make sure you do not forget to clean the outside of the refrigerator too.
